DOES FORM FOLLOW FUNCTION?. The answer to this is yes and no. While the AXXUS concept maintains a constant awareness of the historical validity of the form/function axiom, AXXUS also holds that the maxim is subject to interpretation. If a boat were the subject of this discussion, one might call the the issue "row versus wade" –ponderable or not depending on the circumstances.

AXXUS works of reordered design enable ideas and materials to partner with form and function and to speak with equal volume to the elements of form and function. In its essence, AXXUS brings disparate elements (skills, materials, modes of expression) into an integrated format that is both functionally and visually successful and which invites the viewer or user into a visual dialogue regarding its seen and unseen elements.

As objects that have been arbitrarily labeled as “stools”, either the “act” of sitting or the “contemplation” of sitting is always intended to be part of the “visual dialogue”, even if sitting might be perceived as awkward, unpleasant or impossible.
